• Gate valve refers to the valve that opens and closes (Wedge) in the vertical direction of the medium flow direction (through the axis) to achieve opening and closing.
• The gate valve is mainly used as a cutting fluid on the pipeline, that is, fully open or fully closed.
• Gate valves could be used in low temperature, low pressure, high temperature and high pressure, and also could be used for a variety of different fluid depending on the valve material.
• The gate valve is opened and closed by the rotation of the stem nut (meaning the nut does not move the stem).

What is the difference between NRS and OS&Y gate valves?

NRS means Non-Rising Stem. OS&Y means Outside Stem and Yoke. In an NRS valve, the stem will turn to open and close the gate, but the stem does not move up or down as it turns.

With a OS&Y valve, as the stem turns, it moves into or out of the valve, which also moves the gate to open or seal the valve.
